The Boston Celtics will be in play for the services of Kevin Love and they’re apparently going to use one of their best players ever to lure him

On Wednesday we got the news in the NBA that we’ve all been assuming would be happening, that being Kevin Love opting out of his deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers. With that move, Love will officially become a free agent on July 1, and teams like the Boston Celtics, for example, will be in play for landing him.

Now the Celtics aren’t exactly considered the front runners at the moment to lure Love away from the Cavs, but they apparently have a pretty interesting plan to move themselves toward the front of the line.

According to Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski, in an attempt to get Love to come to Boston, the Celtics will use the possibility of playing with Paul Pierce.

Yes, Robin Lopez is thrown in there as well, but the real focus here is on Pierce. Now you might be asking yourself about all those Clippers rumors we’ve been hearing when it comes to a potential destination for the veteran, but as Wojnarowksi also pointed out, if they can convince Love to make the move, then Pierce might not be too far behind.

Right off the bat here you really have to ask yourself why Love would have interest in playing with Pierce, who isn’t terrible by any means at this stage of his career, but this grouping doesn’t exactly look like a collective unit that could seriously contend for an NBA title anytime soon.

But, this decision will all be on Love’s shoulders come July 1, and we don’t know what’s going through his head. Maybe he does want to play with Paul Pierce, but again, if he wants that title then he might want to take his services elsewhere or just re-sign with the Cavs.
