Kevin Love has opted out of his deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers, and LeBron James doesn’t really care if he re-signs or not.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have decisions to make this offseason, and those begin with Kevin Love opting out of his contract with the team this week. Love will become a free agent on July 1st and can officially sign a new deal on July 9th — but the question will be whether that’s with the Cavaliers or not.
One of the problems this season with Love was the criticism he received from LeBron James. What everyone was hoping was a happy marriage was a rocky relationship that has ended in separation. It may be a situation that ends in divorce, but LeBron James isn’t going to fight to save things.
According to Chris Hayes from the Cleveland Plain Dealer, LeBron James will not be a part of recruiting Kevin Love to re-sign with the Cavaliers.
This makes sense, not only if you consider their rocky relationship this season but also that the allure of Cleveland speaks for itself. You don’t need Doc Brown to roll out the chalkboard to show you that signing with the Cavaliers is a better option than the Knicks or Celtics.
Still, that may not be enough to lure Love back, and LeBron straight up saying he’s not going to recruit Love is a pretty clear message to send to someone. Love already felt unwanted in Cleveland and LeBron basically telling him not to let the door hit him on the way out could be a clincher that pushes Love into the arms of another team.
