According to reports, LaMarcus Aldridge has informed the Portland Trailblazers that he won’t be returning next season.

With each report, it sounds more and more like the days of LaMarcus Aldridge as a member of the Portland Trailblazers are coming to an end.

It seems almost certain that Aldridge will be leaving for somewhere else once free agency begins in about a week or so. Yesterday, the team traded Nic Batum, and it had many wondering if they were beginning to rebuild the roster in anticipation of Aldridge leaving.

Erik Gunderson, a Trailblazers writer for The Columbian has been informed a league executive that Aldridge has announced his attentions to move on.

"A Western Conference executive with knowledge of the Aldridge pursuit has told The Columbian that the free-agent has already informed the Blazers that he will not return to the Northwest….Another league executive told The Columbian on Wednesday that the trade of Batum looked like “a rebuilding move,” and league sources say that the Blazers are “not done” dealing.A Western Conference executive with knowledge of the Aldridge pursuit has told The Columbian that the free-agent has already informed the Blazers that he will not return to the Northwest….Another league executive told The Columbian on Wednesday that the trade of Batum looked like “a rebuilding move,” and league sources say that the Blazers are “not done” dealing."

While nothing is set in stone until ink hits the paper and Aldridge officially signs with another team, the moves that Portland has been making certainly seem to lend to the idea that he is on his way out.

The Trailblazers got what appears to be a rebuild underway yesterday when the team sent Batum to the Charlotte Hornets for Gerald Henderson and Noah Vonleh.  What remains to be seen is if Portland makes any other deals to add young pieces to the roster to add alongside Damian Lillard.

Add in the rumors of top teams like the Dallas Mavericks, San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Lakers in pursuit of him, and it brings everything together.

Certainly at this point all news related to Aldridge is pure rumor and speculation, but with each passing report, it builds credence to the idea that Aldridge is bound for a new team this offseason.
