The Houston Rockets are expected to make a run at Kevin Love and LaMarcus Aldridge this summer to beef up their championship caliber roster.

When the Cleveland Cavaliers were informed that Kevin Love was going to opt out of his contract this summer, the list of teams who could go after him began to grow rapidly. The usual suspects of the Knicks, Celtics and Lakers popped up but there are a handful of ‘wild cards’ who could end up making a run at him.

Cleveland is aways going to be an option — and the frontrunner, depending on who you talk to — but teams like Chicago, Portland and Miami could be dangerous as well. There’s one team that has made it’s intentions known which comes a sa surprise, but it could also end up being a conference shifting move.

According to Marc Stein from ESPN.com, the Rockets are expected to throw their hat in the ring for signing either Kevin Love or LaMarcus Aldridge.

If the Rockets were able to sign Love or Aldridge, that could shift the power int he Western Conference in a huge way. That being said, all the ways we believe that Love can help the Rockets may end up being ways he hurts them like he did in Cleveland.

That’s a little unfair, as Love didn’t hurt the Cavaliers in any other way than getting injured, but the chemistry wasn’t there and that’s detrimental in the worst of ways.

Houston tried making a play to get Chris Bosh last year to be their power forward of the immediate future, and that didn’t end up working out. But having a core of James Harden, Patrick Beverley, Josh Smith, Dwight Howard and either Love or Aldridge might be too much for the rest of the NBA to handle.
