The New York Knicks were looking to trade back into the first round of the NBA Draft, and they did that at the expense of Tim Hardaway Jr.

After the New York Knicks picked Kirstaps Porzingis with the No. 4 overall pick in the NBA Draft, they set their sights on getting another young prospect to add to the fold. The draft haul eventually resulted in a player from Notre Dame making his way out to the Big Apple to play for Phil Jackson.

It was a twisting road that got us to a certain destination, but the Knicks found a way to finally draft point guard in Jerian Grant.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski from Yahoo! Sports, the Knicks have traded Tim Hardaway to the Atlanta Hawks for the draft rights to Notre Dame guard Jerian Grant.

It gets complicated when you consider that this is a two team trade that actually involves three teams. Earlier in the draft, the Hawks selected Kelly Oubre with the No. 15 pick but shipped him off to the Wizards for the No. 19 pick — and that No. 19 pick was moved to the Knicks for Tim Hardaway Jr.
