Prior to the NBA Draft getting underway on Thursday night, the main news around the NBA was the word that LaMarcus Aldridge had informed the Portland Trail Blazers that he would certainly be leaving the team this summer in free agency and heading elsewhere.

Well, that might not have been entirely true.

Following the festivities that were the 2015 NBA Draft, general manager Neil Olshey revealed that Aldridge had told him the reports were not true, meaning that there is a chance that he’d be returning to the team during the free agency period this summer.

If anything, this will end up being one of the more intriguing stories to watch play out during one of the most exciting times of the NBA off-season. With Aldridge being one of the best big men in the NBA, all eyes will be on what his intentions are for his future.

Most recently he’s been linked to the Los Angeles Lakers, and the thinking that he could be headed there intensified even more when they drafted point guard D’Angelo Russell with the No. 2 overall pick. With Jahlil Okafor sitting for them there to take, it’s been believed they took Russell because they are the front runners to land the services of the former Texas star.

This isn’t the first report about Aldridge that we’ve seen shot down, and with the free agency period still yet to come, it probably won’t be the last.
