Report: Taylor Swift in talks to headline Super Bowl 50 halftime show

Taylor Swift is reportedly in talks with the NFL to headline Super Bowl 50.
The Super Bowl halftime show is one of the biggest entertainment spectacles of the year, headlined by the biggest names in music. Heading into the 2015 NFL season, the league is in talks with Taylor Swift to headline the Super Bowl 50 halftime show, according to a Radar Online report.
Being the 50th anniversary of the Super Bowl makes it a big show and the NFL would like the biggest star to headline it, and there might not be a bigger star in music right now than Taylor Swift.
The interesting wrinkle in this story is that Katy Perry headlined the show last year.
“Her main holdup is performing the year after Katy Perry did it, but she also feels it’s the right way to close out the ‘1989’ chapter of her career,” a Swift source told the site.
That very well might be true, and Swift might not want to follow her rival. The two are said to be on bad terms and Katy Perry is reportedly the subject of Taylor Swift’s song “Bad Blood.”
At the same time we think Swift needs to look at it this way, as a chance to one-up Katy Perry. She has the benefit of going second and being able to put on a better show knowing what she is up against.
Also, Swift would be getting the more prestigious 50th Super Bowl, which will be a bigger event. That is one way to top your rival.
For all those hoping Swift accepts, the website makes things sound like they’re closer to being done than not. The site says “her team is working out the final details” and that Swift already has selected who she wants as director of the show.
