The New York Knicks need to find some solutions to their roster problems, and DeAndre Jordan might provide that relief.

When the New York Knicks pulled off a couple of draft night moves to land young players for the future, it seemed to anger Carmelo Anthony who saw it as the team conceding the 2015-16 season before it started. But free agency could change that tune, as Phil Jackson has a chance to save a Knicks season that might already be over.

DeAndre Jordan is a top free agent on the market, and the Knicks are naturally attached to him.

According to Adam Zagoria of SNY.tv, the New York Knicks will get in on the DeAndre Jordan sweepstakes and plan on meeting with the big man when free agency opens.

Both the Clippers and Mavericks will be the favorites to sign Jordan when free agency begins on July 1st, but the Knicks are a wild card in the situation. New York needs a beefy center to run in their frontcourt and they don’t have anything remotely close to that anywhere near their roster.

Cleanthony Early is the closest thing they have to a center — which tells you all you need to know about the poor shape the Knicks are in. Adding Jordan not only would give the Knicks a boost in the frontcourt, but it could appease Carmelo Anthony.

If Melo is really that upset about the Knicks draft night moves, then signing a top free agent needs to be on Phil Jackson’s list of things he needs to do right away. Things cannot be allowed to get volatile in New York, as Melo asking for a trade out of town might end up being a realistic solution.
