The Cleveland Cavaliers need to find a way to bring back LeBron James, and the next week of work will be critical to making that happen.

When the Cleveland Cavaliers signed LeBron James away from the Miami Heat last summer, they new they’d eventually need to go through the motions of watching him opt out of his contract and put the pressure on the front office to compile a winning roster.

That time has come, as LeBron officially notified the Cavalier that he was testing free agent waters. This doesn’t mean he’s going to leave, but the Cavs now need to prove they have their ducks in a row before their superstar player re-signs with them.

We all knew this was going to happen, but the way LeBron burned the Heat last season was a clear preemptive strike against the Cavaliers this summer. Watching the best player in the world leave Miami when they failed to get moving quick enough in free agency was a message into the future so that the Cavaliers don’t take LeBron for granted in this offseason process.

Cleveland doesn’t need to re-invent the wheel to convince LeBron James to re-sign with them, but there are a handful of moves they need to make in order to ensure The King’s return to his throne next season.
