While it’s unlikely he goes anywhere, the fact of the matter is that LeBron James is a free agent and could leave the Cavaliers…if he wants

Sunday afternoon the word came through that we were all waiting for, that being LeBron James opting out of his contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers, making him a free agent come July 1. This is a move that we all saw coming, because we knew this was going to happen last year when he made the monumental decision to return to the Cavaliers in the first place. Opting out and then re-signing is just the right chess moves to make so he can get that mega deal in 2017.

But, for the sake of argument here, if you want to get technical…LeBron James could leave the Cavaliers if he chooses to. While it would end up in complete anguish for the people of Cleveland that welcomed back the icon that left them once already, anything can happen. LeBron and Dan Gilbert could get into a nasty squabble, making it nearly impossible for James to want to work with him, and vice versa; LeBron could get an offer from another owner that might just seem too good to pass up.

Again, while pretty unlikely, he is on the free agent market and can be scooped up by another team. Some of these potential destinations would make the LeBron haters pretty perturbed, because it’d be obvious to them that he’s just trying to hot shot himself another title.

So, here’s a look at a few teams that LeBron could bolt the Cavaliers for that would have people going completely out of their minds.
