Miami Heat convince Dwyane Wade to come back for $20M
By Josh Hill
The Miami Heat and Dwyane Wade have agreed to a one-year, $20 million contract that will keep the guard in town.
The Miami Heat are trying to put together a roster that won’t miss the postseason like we saw the team do last season. Part of that plan to make the postseason in 2015-16 involved Dwyane Wade, which is why Pat Riley buckled and gave him the money he wanted.
Or, was it the other way around.
Either way, according to Heat beat writer Barry Jackson, Miami is bringing Wade back on a one-year deal worth $20 million.
Pne has to wonder if the recent rumor about LaMarcus Aldridge possibly coming to Miami might have played a role in Wade coming back to South Beach. There were some who pegged him as going north to Cleveland or New York, or perhaps west to Los Angeles.
Miami has been Wade’s home his entire career though, and he’s not going anywhere this season. Now that Wade’s situation has been resolved and the Heat have locked down Goran Dragic, as well as being in the second year of a five-year max for Chris Bosh, the pitch to Aldridge almost speaks for itself.
There’s no guarantee that he’ll want to sign with the Heat over the Spurs or Suns, but Miami is suddenly a big player on the free agent market and Pat Riley has once again convinced a player who wanted to play hardball with him that he’s not to be trifled with.
