Jimmy Butler did a great job of sounding like he doesn’t like Derrick Rose

The Chicago Bulls just re-signed Jimmy Butler to a max contract, and he christened his new deal by failing in the worst way to squash his beef  with Derrick Rose.

Chicago Bulls fans cannot have happy things.

That’s just a fact of life that fans across the NBA have come to realize, as the Bulls are either too hurt, too tired or to cranky to make a legitimate title run these days. Derrick Rose and his knees have held them back, the feud between the front office and now ex-head coach Tom Thibodeau was a cloud over the team and things just can’t go right.

Even the Bulls having two superstar players has backfired on them, as it appears Derrick Rose and Jimmy Butler are in the Kevin Love-LeBron James stage of their relationship together.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Butler was asked about his relationship with Rose. Given the opportunity to squash whatever beef we thought was there, Butler instead confirmed that there is probably something going on.

"I don’t think we have any issues. I think we’re fine. I think we’re two basketball players that want to win games. That’s where I’ll leave it at. I think we just wanna win, bring a championship the city, to the organization. I think that’s our job."

To be fair, he seemed to try and squash the beef that still may or may not be there. But there were a number of ways that Butler could have taken the question and used it as a way to squash the beef with Rose. Even if there is beef between the two, there are so many ways Butler could have answered that question that would have made us drop the whole issue.

  1. “There’s no beef”
  2. “Where’s the beef?”
  3. “There are no issues”
  4. “We are fine”

Any of the above answers would have been more than enough to squash whatever beef may or may not be there. Instead, this was our response:

"Idon’t think we have any issues. I think we’re fine. I think we’re two basketball players that want to win games. That’s where I’ll leave it at. I think we just wanna win, bring a championship the city, to the organization. I think that’s our job."

I think there’s beef between Derrick Rose and Jimmy Butler. I don’t think they’re fine. I think they’re two basketball players who want to be sole superstars and don’t want to share the spotlight.

Jimmy Butler has 90 million reasons to not have beef with Derrick Rose, but only time will tell if their relationship can lead to just one title.
