If free agency doesn’t work out the way they want it to, the Mavericks would consider bringing Roy Hibbert into the fold

Right now one of the main targets for the Dallas Mavericks in free agency is DeAndre Jordan. After losing Tyson Chandler, the Mavericks would love for nothing more than to land someone that can do some work down low as they try to stay in the playoff hunt.

However, with the Clippers’ recent agreement with Paul Pierce, there’s many of the belief now that Jordan might not actually go anywhere, choosing to stay with what could be a solid Clippers team instead. Well should this happen, then the Mavericks have a backup plan in place, apparently, and it’s quite the interesting one.

According to ESPN’s Tim MacMahon, should the Mavericks lose out on Jordan this free agency period, then they’re not opposed to a deal with the Indiana Pacers that could bring in Roy Hibbert.

Of course, this is a plan that could work if things don’t go their way with DeAndre Jordan. It’s no well-kept secret that the Pacers would be willing to cut ties with Hibbert, and they’d be more than willing to hear what Mark Cuban has to offer up here.

But, as MacMahon also stated, they’re still pretty hopeful that they won’t have to go this route. For the most part, this is a last resort they would go to, to get some help in the paint.
