At this point it’s pretty difficult to imagine watching the San Antonio Spurs and not see Tim Duncan on the floor owning the paint. Heck, it’s difficult trying to picture an NBA world without Tim Duncan in it. But as each year passes by, we get one step closer to Tim Duncan not being on the court any longer.

Well, 2015-16 will not be the year that he walks away.

This is obviously tremendous news for a Spurs team that is not only doing a good job of keeping their nucleus together, but trying to bring in outside help as well. They’ve already agreed to new deals with Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green this free agency period, and with the news that Duncan on the floor, they have the core of this championship-contending team intact.

Then, of course, there’s their pursuit of LaMarcus Aldridge to give Duncan even more help on the inside. While he’s talked with other teams, the Spurs are still considered the front runners to land his services. It was reported on Wednesday that their meeting with Aldridge went pretty well, which can only spell good things in the end.

But there’s no doubting that, even at this stage of his career, Duncan is the biggest piece of the Spurs’ puzzle. While they weren’t able to successfully defend their title last year, they still showed flashes of a team that can walk away with an NBA title when all is said and done.
