My selections are tailored toward DraftKings scoring system but these picks can also be helpful in H2H formats with daily rosters where some of my recommended players may be available to pick up off the Waiver Wire. Also, a majority of these selections would also be recommended for FanDuel, but you should first understand the differences between each baseball scoring system before plugging players in both.

Without further ado, here are my best pitcher and hitter selections for the evening slate of DK contests (11 MLB games) on July 6th, 2015.

Good Luck!

  • Mark Buehrle (TOR) vs. CWS for $6,800: Toronto’s ageless lefty has pitched very well this season with a record, 3.64 ERA, and 1.19 WHIP. His 14.8 FPPG isn’t bad considering his salaries are usually in the $6000s. Buehrle has been especially effective of late, getting at least 7 IP and 5 K in his 4 starts, averaging 22.35 FP in that span. He faces a White Sox team who has only scored 5 runs in their 3 game home stand and struggles against LHP to the tune of a .221 BA, 29th in the league. For the low salary an in a DK points system that deemphasizes wins, Buehrle is a great dark-horse pick.

Chris Heston (SF) home vs. NYM for $6,300: Heston (8-5, 3.78 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 80 K in 97 2/3 IP) has been solid this year and even pitched a no-no (6/9, 54.5 FP) for the Giants against the same Mets team he’s facing today. Very consistent, Heston has gone 5 straight starts allowing 3 or less runs. The Mets are horrible offensively, 27th in the majors in runs scored and 29th in BA (.234) vs. RHP. The Giants are a big -160 home favorite. I strongly recommend saving your money for a big hitter stack and going with these two SP bargains.

    HItters

C Buster Posey (SF) home vs. NYM (Niese) for 4,500: The Giant star has hit .304 with 14 HR, and 57 RBI in 78 games for a respectable 8.4 FPPG. He has been on fire lately, currently on a 11 game hitting streak going 16 for his last 38 AB. He goes up against Jon Niese (3-8, 3.90 ERA, 1.49 WHIP) whom he is 8 for 22 against with 1 home run lifetime in a good L/R matchup at home.

  • 3B/OF Kelly Johnson (ATL) at MIL (Loshe) for $3,000: Kelly Johnson has hit .265 with 6 HR, and 25 RBI in 50 games. He has been batting in the clean-up spot for the Braves and has a good L/R matchup vs. Lohse who he has a .294 mark (5 for 17) against with a home run. In hitter’s paradise Miller Park (7th in Park Factor Runs at 1.16) tonight, Kelly Johnson is a good bet at an extremely affordable salary.

Tips for New Daily Fantasy League Players

OF Yoenis Cespedes (DET) at SEA (Iwakuma) for $3,900: The talented Cuban has been very good in the heart of the Tigers lineup with a .294 BA, 10 HR, 44 RBI, 3 SB and 7.7 FPPG in 80 games. Cespedes has been hot lately too going 5 for 14 and averaging 9 FPPG over his last 3 games. He faces Hisashi Iwakuma (6.61 ERA, 1.41 WHIP in 3 2015 starts) against whom he has a career batting average of .417 (10 for 22) with 3 HR.
