Floyd Mayweather has been stripped of the welterweight belt he won after defeating Manny Pacquiao

The fight back on May 2 between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao was one of the more anticipated boxing bouts in history. However, since the event took place, the fallout has been less than stellar in comparison to the hype that was built over the course of the last decade. Well things have since gotten worse.

On Friday we were treated to the news that Mayweather may in fact be stripped of the WBO Welterweight title that he won as a result of his decision win over Pacquiao on May 2, and on Monday that decision was indeed confirmed.

Now, this decision comes because of Mayweather’s failure to comply with the rules that are set in place. For Mayweather to take on the WBO welterweight title that he won by defeating Pacquiao, he would have to relinquish the junior welterweight belts that he’s currently in possession of. After the fight with Pacquiao was over, this was something that Floyd said he would do, yet he never really went through with it.

Quite frankly, the “Fight of the Century” that we were all waiting for has turned out to be nothing but a debacle in the end here. From the lackluster fight that took place in Las Vegas to this now, nothing has really lived up to the expectations that were building over the last 10 years or so.

Just another day in the saga that is Floyd Mayweather and his antics.
