The San Antonio Spurs, by any means necessary, always find a way to upgrade their organization. We saw this again this past holiday weekend with the news that they would be acquiring the services of LaMarcus Aldridge, and on Monday, they took things a step further.
According to NBA analyst David Aldridge, the Spurs have come to terms on an agreement with forward David West of the Indiana Pacers.
This off-season West decided to opt out of his current contract with the Pacers as he wants to play with a contender at this point in his career. With that being the case, the Spurs initially seemed like a pretty good choice. After the signing of Aldridge this past weekend, that destination became even more lucrative.
This will be the 12th year in the NBA for David West, who originally made his name as one of the best college players of this generation while he was a star at Xavier.
After spending a good portion of his career in New Orleans, West joined the Pacers prior to the 2011-12 season, and he seemed as if he could be one of the missing pieces in the championship puzzle for this team. However, those championship aspirations never really came to fruition.
Now, though, he’ll be joining a Spurs team that seems more than primed and ready to make a run at a title.
