Power ranking the AL MVP candidates following Miguel Cabrera’s injury
Prior to his injury, Cabrera was in the No. 1 spot on this list. He has been absolutely torching opposing pitchers, hitting .350 with 15 homers and 54 RBI. However, Cabrera’s first-ever DL stint may cause him to finish with fewer than 100 RBI for the first time since his rookie year.

Just how good has Cabrera been throughout his career? Well, as previously stated, he has finished with under 100 RBI just once, and has only hit less than 30 homers twice — in danger of having his third season with less than 30 following this six-week injury.
The career-.321 hitter has been unreal this season. Along with his stellar .350 average, he was posting the best on-base percentage of his career at .456.
Once the 32-year-old superstar comes back from injury, you can bet he will place himself back in MVP talks. Let’s hope he makes a speedy recovery and comes back to give the top three guys on this list a run for their money.
