What an odd turn of events we were treated to on Wednesday in the saga that is DeAndre Jordan and the Los Angeles Clippers. After it seemed a move to the Dallas Mavericks was all but a done deal at this point, we received word that the Clippers will indeed make a last-ditch effort to bring him back into the fold, and a meeting has been set up.

Now, when Jordan first made the decision to leave Los Angeles for greener pastures in Dallas, one of the reported reasons was because the relationship between he and point guard Chris Paul was rather sour. In fact, in the original meeting with the two side, Paul wasn’t even in attendance.

Well, it looks as if he will be this time.

From the standpoint of the Clippers, this is great news. No matter what the beef is here between Jordan and Paul, the fact is that Jordan is a key piece in helping this team reach that championship level they’ve been trying to get to the past few seasons. If he bolts for Dallas, then the title aspirations more or less go right along with him.

If anything really is going to change Jordan’s mind about all of this, it would be he and Paul getting on the same page. It might really be just as simple as that for the Clippers. If these two can sit down in this second meeting and agree on a direction that won’t have Paul screaming in his face on the court again, then changing Jordan’s mind here is something that could realistically happen.
