NBA Free Agency is starting to die down, but a handful of teams have set themselves on a course for the postseason with the moves that they made this summer.

Each summer, NBA teams try to right the wrongs that plagued them and fix things so that they can make a run at the NBA Finals the next year. This is a tall task to accomplish but it’s not impossible — something a handful of teams found out this offseason.

Some teams were already playoff contenders when they entered the offseason, but for some franchises simply being a contender isn’t enough. For franchises who were already contenders but didn’t end last season as NBA Finals champions, the offseason is spent crafting your roster into Finals favorites.

For other franchises, just being a contender for the postseason is good enough at this point, but sometimes you happen to have the type of offseason that propels you so far into a stratosphere you know nothing about that it suddenly makes you exciting and — for once in a long time — good.

Winning in free agency doesn’t always fix anything and it hardly guarantees a spot in the NBA Finals, but it certainly helps when it comes to making a run that following year. So who will use this year’s offseason to propel them on a deep NBA postseason run?
