There weren’t a ton of moves made in the north this summer, but that doesn’t mean the Raptors didn’t have one of the best offseasons they’ve had in recent memory. One of the gripes against the Raptors is that no free agents want to come up to Toronto and play for them.

That was justification when they drafted Bruno Caboclo out of Brazil last year — someone who was years away from being an NBA player, if ever. But the summer of 2015 brought about an improvement in the free agent image of the Raptors, and because of that they have won in more than one way.

Not only did the Raptors draft well, grabbing a solid point guard prospect in Delon Wright out of Utah, but they signed DeMarre Carroll to a $60 million deal — something that never happens to the Raptors. They also managed to get Bismack Biyombo on a friendly deal that could make him a steal in the long run.

Not only are they becoming a free agent destination, but they have tools this year they didn’t in 2014-15 to make a run that gets them past the first round of the postseason.
