Most basketball nerds agreed with the Minnesota Timberwolves’ decision to take Karl-Anthony Towns first overall in last month’s NBA Draft. His minutes were limited for a loaded Kentucky team, but he showed enough in the time he did play to make people think he could be the NBA’s next great big man.
We already knew Towns was a great athlete with a polished offensive skill set along with loads of defensive potential, but perhaps his playmaking ability was overlooked. I know it’s Summer League, and that he’s only played five games, but I feel comfortable saying that Karl Towns can PASS.
We’ve seen him dish a number of nifty passes already, though the doozy he unleashed on Wednesday was something else.
This is just ridiculous. Adreian Payne couldn’t finish it, but the gloriousness remains. Towns recognizes the double-team is coming and even motions for Payne to get to the spot so that he can deliver this absurd over-the-shoulder pass. Normal bigs don’t have this kind of touch.
CONFIRMED: Karl Towns is not a normal big.
