The Baltimore Orioles are starting to heat up when it comes to a potential landing spot for Reds ace Johnny Cueto.

With the MLB trade deadline just a few days away, the hot stove is starting to sizzle with potential trade activity. At the moment, Cole Hamels is the biggest name on the market but Johnny Cueto seems like the most likely pitcher to be moved before the deadline passes.

There are a number of teams looking at Cueto, and as questions continue to be raised about the health and longevity of Hamels, the Reds ace is going to get more and more attention.

According to Jon Morosi from FOX Sports, the Orioles are one of the handful of teams interested in trading for Johnny Cueto, but they also have eyes for Jay Bruce as well.

It has been rumored that the Reds are going to be sellers at the deadline, shifting big pieces to reposition themselves for the future. Cueto is the biggest name that Cincinnati has to offer but he’s clearly not the only name. Beyond Todd Frazier, whom that Reds are looking to lock up long term, as well as Joey Votto, it appears everyone is for sale and someone is going to be traded.

Baltimore is currently four games out of first place in the AL East and trail the Astros by a half game less than that for the final Wild Card spot in the American League. If they can land Cueto in a deal then it could help them get a much needed push past the Yankees in the East or at the very least make a run at the Astros and Twins in the AL Wild Card race.

Either way, the Orioles being players on the trade market, especially in the Cueto sweepstakes, will be something to watch thanks to the ripple effect it could have in the Cole Hamels sweepstakes elsewhere.
