The NBA is inching closer and closing to having a female head coach, and Hillary Clinton is already on the Becky Hammon bandwagon.

We are witnessing history in the NBA, as Becky Hammon is blazing a trail that is opening up the opportunity for female coaches in professional male sports. Hammon is an assistant on Gregg Popovich’s staff in San Antonio but she took over the role of head coach for Summer League.

That resulted in the Spurs winning a Summer League title under Hammon’s leadership, something that isn’t being lost on anyone in the sports world — or just in the world in general.

In a tweet that has layers to it, Hilary Clinton congratulated Hammon on her historic win at the Las Vegas Summer League. In doing so, she tooted her own horn when it came to the prospect of becoming the first female president of the United States.

Hammon responded to the presidential candidate on Twitter, thanking her for the support.

Clinton being elected president in 2016 and Hammon possibly taking over an NBA head coaching job in 2016-17 could make the next few years a historic time in human history. It seems like a simple concept — letting a woman coach a professional sports team — but it still hasn’t happened.

With the 100 year anniversary of women winning the right to vote coming up, the gender pillars that still remain are being shattered.
