Ex-NFL player catches college teammate robbing his house
Former NFL receiver Bernard Berrian caught a former college teammate of his attempting to burglarize his home.
Bernard Berrian used to be good at catching things. Good enough that he played eight years in the NFL for the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings. With a life full of catching things, Berrian also caught a former college teammate attempting to burglarize his home.
After having his home broken into on multiple instances, Berrian did the smart thing and had a home security system installed that would alert him to whenever anyone attempted to enter his residence.
It turns out that the thief was a lot closer to Berrian than he expected. As Berrian was enjoying a fine summer barbecue with his former college teammate Therrian Fontenot, he was alerted to his house being broken into by that savvy new security system that he had just installed.
What happened next floored Berrian as he was shocked to learn it was his teammate and the man he was just enjoying barbecue with. Fontenot had left the party early to break into the home of Berrian according to ABC30 Action News.
"“I actually watched him doing it while he was doing it,” said Berrian. “I could have actually spoke to him, I got a microphone on there. I could have told him, I got you, while he was doing it.”But instead, a shocked Berrian was speechless, watching the crime unfold, by a burglar he knew, who even brought cleaning supplies to wipe away the evidence.“I was like, wow, he is a real professional, he takes a spray bottle with him to wipe off fingerprints and a towel.”“I actually watched him doing it while he was doing it,” said Berrian. “I could have actually spoke to him, I got a microphone on there. If that isn’t an example of being betrayed by a friend, then what is? To sit there and have fine discourse with a gentleman while enjoying some delicious barbecue, only for him to turn his back on you and go rob your house, is downright despicable to say the least.
For Berrian, it was a cruel lesson in learning that everyone you know is not exactly who you think they are. It’s safe to say Berrian and Fontenot will not be enjoying barbecues together anymore.
