Although the deadline to commit is a ways down the line, let’s take a look at the top five undecided 2016 college basketball recruits.

It’s crazy to think about how much college football and basketball recruiting have taken off in recent years. Ten years ago, you would have been hard-pressed to find a handful of people interested in their school’s recruiting efforts, but that has changed drastically.

Looking at some of the top classes in recent years, it’s usually the schools with the best incoming freshmen that perform successfully on the hardwood.

As an example, Duke put together one of the best units in the nation last year with Justise Winslow, Jahlil Okafor and Tyus Jones and then what happened? Well, the Blue Devils went on to win the national championship and all three guys were selected in the first round of the NBA Draft.

Prior to the last couple of years, head coach Mike Krzyzewski never used to be a guy who would go after one-and-done recruits, but that’s the direction of college basketball these days and he has assimilated to succeed.

John Calipari has made a living on guys like that and has put together top-five recruiting classes in each of his seasons with the Kentucky Wildcats. Coach Cal is notorious for snagging some of the nation’s top talent and sending them to the NBA shortly after their freshman seasons.

Do either of those head coaches have a chance at any of the top five uncommitted prospects for the 2016 class? Absolutely. Will they realistically snag any of them? Time will tell.

Let’s take a look at the top five uncommitted recruits and predict where they will land.
