The San Francisco Giants would love to trade for Cole Hamels, but they don’t have enough prospects to make a deal happen.

One of the hottest names on the MLB trade market is Philadelphia Phillies ace Cole Hamels, who recently threw a no-hitter to drive up his value. There are a plethora of teams that are interested, including perennial contenders and baseball dynasty the San Francisco Giants.

Surely, Hamels would enjoy going to a team that has won three World Series over the last five seasons as much as the Giants would love to have him. The issue is that the Giants might not have enough to offer for Hamels.

According to a report from Jayson Stark of ESPN, two teams in particular have established themselves as the front runners for Hamels services, and the Giants aren’t on the short list.

"The Texas Rangers and Los Angeles Dodgers have emerged over the weekend as the likely favorites to trade for Philadelphia Phillies ace Cole Hamels, multiple sources said."

But that won’t stop the Giants from trying.
