Greg Hardy is wasting little time jumping into the Cowboys-Eagles rivalry.

With his signing being somewhat controversial, Greg Hardy is doing his best to endear himself to Dallas Cowboys fans. On Friday, the defensive lineman donated $300 to a GoFundMe account started by some fans with the intent to fly a trolling banner over Philadelphia Eagles practice.

Here’s a little background:
Apparently there was first some scuttlebutt about a faction of Eagles fans pimping a GoFundMe account to fly a banner over Cowboys practice. The banner would read “We Got DeMarco” – a boast that the NFL’s 2014 rushing leader packed up and moved across the division to Philly. Well now, Dallas fans weren’t going to take that lying down, and decided to quickly mobilize for their own banner that would say “We Got The Division.”
Enter Hardy, his $300 donation and a little suggestion: change the phrasing a wee bit. Now, instead of a snarky boast about the division, the sign will rep the Big D and let the Birds know what’s coming for them. On August 9, look for a flyover at Eagles camp that reads, “We Still Dem Boyz! #SacksComin.” Rather provocative, no?
Below is the announcement.
"There is a new development in the fundraising efforts. Greg Hardy himself has contributed $300 to the cause, and he suggested a phrase for the banner. The new suggestion, from Greg, was “WE STILL DEM BOYZ!”We thought it’d be a hell of a way to honor his contribution by updating the banner for the fly-over, and adding a little something for his contribution. The banner will now read “WE STILL DEM BOYZ! #SACKSCOMIN.”I sincerely appreciate EVERY SINGLE DONATION from all of #CowboysNation. This could not have been done without you.Not only did we get a Cowboys player to donate, we blew the Eagles’ banner campaign out of the water by completely out-gaining them and meeting our goal in six less hours than them.Round of applause to everyone involved… and GO COWBOYS!!"
There are far worse and far more difficult (not to mention expensive) ways to curry favor with your new team. Pretty savvy PR move by Hardy; if you check out his Twitter timeline it’s flush with adoring fans.
As for the banner: is this the new thing? Last year Miami Hurricanes fans unleashed “Fire Al Golden” banners at will, and this season some Jets fans have already trolled the Patriots with a “Cheaters” flyover. If the Raiders don’t seize this opportunity to evolve into skywriting and unleashing the dark mark above every game, then we’ve collectively failed as a society.
