8. New Orleans

New Orleans is home to just two professional sports franchises, the Saints in the NFL and the Pelicans in the NBA. That hasn’t stopped New Orleans from being one of the best sports cities in the country.

First, it is home to the Superdome. This stadium gives Saints fans a one-of-a-kind experience and home-field advantage that rivals that of any team in the NFL. The Saints, led by Drew Brees, brought the city their first Super Bowl victory and an incredible championship celebration followed that would rival any cities celebration.

The Superdome is also host to numerous events, including seven Super Bowls, most recently in 2013. New Orleans as a city has hosted 10 Super Bowls. The Superdome also hosted WrestleMania 30, which saw Daniel Bryan overcome the odds to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

The Sugar Bowl is also played at the Super Bowl, which was also in the rotation of BCS National Championship games as well. This is one of college football’s most storied bowl games, and since it is in the heart of SEC country it routinely hosts the best college football programs of all time.

Sticking with college sports, the Superdome has hosted five Final Fours, most recently in 2003 and 2012.

Muhammad Ali even fought there once upon a time.

Louisiana State University is just up the road in Baton Rouge as well.
