Dude turns office into Space Jam dunk fest (video)

As one man shows us, the best way to handle office layoffs is to dunk away the pain.

In a former lifetime I was a delivery guy for a Jimmy John’s in Midtown Atlanta. It was at the height of the recession and, as badly as I felt being fresh out of graduate school and unable to even sniff a white-collar job, my plight wasn’t nearly as rough as some of the folks in places I would deliver.

Watching heartache on the nightly news never fully hit home until I started traveling up to the gutted companies packed up and out of the way in some of the city’s most recognizable high rises. Offices looked like they had been scooped away with a mellon baller. Just scores of empty desks and cubicles, with only a handful of people scattered around in their desired workstations (they always refused to consolidate, which made things seem even more desolate).

And while I’ve been to every single floor and every single company inside every single building from North Ave. to 15th St., never did I ever catch a dude holding a Space Jam dunk fest in his lonely office space. Too bad, really, because it looks like a lot of fun. Tip o’ the cap to Jake H., for making slamming lemonade from the lemons he’s been dealt due to layoffs. Sick creativity, too (love the Steve Nash/Amar’e header dunk tribute).
