15: Baltimore Orioles

ACQUIRED: OF Gerardo Parra (from Brewers), OF Junior Lake (from Cubs)

TRADED: RHP Zach Davies (to Brewers), RHP Tommy Hunter (to Cubs)

The Baltimore Orioles are the head-scratcher of the deadline. They went in looking for an impact outfielder to supplement their line-up and came out with a t-shirt saying, “I went to the trade deadline and all I got was Gerardo Parra”.

Like Toronto, the Orioles are a distant six games behind the New York Yankees in the division, and sit just a game behind in the Wild Card. However, after knocking on the door for Justin Upton and Yoenis Cespedes, the Orioles threw away their 4th best prospect for an impending free agent having the best season of his career. Parra is a capable outfielder and could give the team a similar lift to that which Alejandro De Aza gave them a year ago, but this seems like an overbuy for an organization that could have used something with a bit more umph.

Additionally, the Orioles chose not to add any pitchers at the deadline. Instead, they are trusting that Kevin Gausman will be enough to make them forget about the mistakes of Bud Norris and possibly serve them a playoff spot on a platter.
