The Minnesota Golden Gophers are looking for a new athletic director. Why? Because their former one, Norwood Teague, got drunk and started texting. Folks, that is always, always a bad idea. The university announced that Teague would be stepping down after going to his cell phone after too many drinks, and it sadly apparent why, per SB Nation.

For those who decided to skip reading the sexually graphic texts, Teague is basically harassing a University of Minnesota female employee, causing her to become uncomfortable during their conversation. Eventually, the recipient of Teague’s texts stops answering, leaving Teague to make multiple sexual advances without being answered. The exchange is both gross and sad, along with being highly disturbing.

Teague has been with the Golden Gophers since 2012 and now plans to seek help for his drinking, something that we certainly wish him well with. As seen in recent days with the alleged drunk-driving of former San Francisco 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith (leading to his fifth arrest), the problem is serious for any afflicted.

Minnesota is still looking for a replacement with the start of the college football season only weeks away. The Golden Gophers are not expected to compete for the Big Ten championship, considering the Ohio State Buckeyes are the massive favorites with the Michigan State Spartans and Michigan Wolverines looming. However, Minnesota will be aiming for a bowl berth once more.

Here’s the hoping that Teague can bounce back from his alcohol issues and land on his feet. Hopefully, he will use better judgment going forward.
