12. Cincinnati Bengals

After four consecutive one-and-done playoff appearances, the Bengals need to find a different formula. For years, it seems Cincinnati has a good defense with an offense that while dotted with playmakers, is held back by Andy Dalton. Perhaps it is time for the defense to go from good to great, carrying Dalton and his mediocre talents on its collective back.

The Bengals have plenty of talent, although the entire defense relies on tackle Geno Atkins. Coming back from an ACL tear last season, Atkins was subpar and drew the ire of his coaches after the Wild Card loss to the Indianapolis Colts. Atkins only recorded 34 tackle and three sacks. On the line with him are Wallace Gilberry, Michael Johnson and Domata Peko.

The main issue dogging this group is the health of middle linebacker Vontaze Burfict. Burfict underwent microfracture knee surgery in the offseason and is likely to miss the first month of the season. Without Burfict, the Bengals must rely on Vincent Rey, a solid if unspectacular player.
