A look at the results from AAA Triplemania 2015
Sunday night was the night of Triplemania, the biggest event of the year in AAA. AAA is Mexico’s biggest pro wrestling promotion, meaning that the biggest stars in the world of Lucha Libre were on the card in Mexico City on Sunday night.
Lucha Underground, fresh off of their season one finale, were at Triplemania in full effect. The likes of Jack Evans and Angelic, Fenix, Pentagon Jr., and others were competing. Former WWE talent was also there as El Patron Alberto, formerly known as Alberto Del Rio in WWE, faced off with LU star Brian Cage in a Hair vs. Hair Match. Meanwhile, the main event was a “Dream Match” between two of the most legendary luchadors in history, Rey Mysterio Jr. and Myzteziz (the original Sin Cara in WWE).
With all of this talent ready to rumble in the ring, Triplemania was bound to hold some amazing moments. Here’s how everything went down in Mexico City:
The show started with Daga, Mamba, Mini Psycho Clown and Sexy Star vs. Dinastia, Drago, Goya Kong, and Pimpinela Escarlata in an intergender free-for-all. Drago stole the show during entrances:
Then he continued to steal the show during the action in the ring:
After a multitude of confusing action featuring all of the participants, Pimpinela Escarlata got Sexy Star in a bow and arrow submission for the win. After the match, Escarlata delivered a kiss to Matt Striker who was on commentary:
Winners: Dinastia, Drago, Goya Kong and Pimpinela Escarlata
The next match had Los Pyscho Circus vs. Los Villanos in a match that had been brewing since Villano IV called out Psycho Clown several months ago to extend a feud between families that has been ongoing in lucha libre since the 1980s.
The match was largely Los Villanos singling out different Clowns and beating them down. A tower of doom spot that was quite a sight was the major thing to see from the match:
The contest came to an end when Psycho Clown had the pin on Villano III, but got out of the cover to call out Villano IV to help settle their grudge. Of course, Villano IV was able to turn the tides and get Psycho Clown down for the pin.
Winners: Los Villanos
In the ring for the next match was a cage ladder match for the AAA World Trios Title Match featuring the champions Los Hell Brothers vs. Jack Evans, Angelico and Fenix vs. Pentagon Jr., Hij Del Fantasma and El Texano Jr.
As you might expect considering who was involved and the stipulations for the match, it was full of crazy spots. Jack Evans took big bumps:
Jack Evans took more big bumps:
Jack Evans took even more big bumps:
Jack Evans then delivered some crazy spots:
Then Jack Evans gave way to Fenix to take the spotlight with a crazy dive off the top of the cage:
The match came to a close when a representative from each of the three trios was hanging near the title belts, but Averno of Los Hell Brothers took out Angelico then Fantasma and grabbed the belts to remain Trios Champions.
Winners: Los Hell Brothers
Blue Demon Jr. and La Parka went up against El Mesias and Electroshock in the next match on the card. Much of the match felt like a draw with a great deal of back-and-forth action. La Parka seemed to give his team the edge with a beautiful dive to the floor onto El Mesias:
However, Electroshock got Blue Demon for a two-count with a powerbomb. Demon rallied back to hit a running headbutt, though, and locked on his El Pulpo submission to get the win.
Winners: Blue Demon Jr. and La Parka
Hector Garza and Perro Aguayo Jr. were both inducted into the AAA Hall of Fame prior to the next match between El Patron Alberto with Fenix in his corner and Brian Cage with El Hijo del Fantasma in his corner. El Patron got going early, but Cage was able to hit a powerbomb and then bust open El Patron with a chair shot. He then hit a standing moonsault with ease:
Fenix and El Hijo del Fantasma both got involved in the action, with Fenix ultimately taking out Fantasma:
El Patron got the upperhand next, hitting an armbar over the ropes and then a lungblower on Cage:
Alberto then went for the armbar, but was sent through a table for his troubles:
El Patron then was able to get Cage through a table and tried to pin him. The ref wouldn’t count the pin, though, causing Patron to attack the ref in vicious fashion:
Patron then got Cage on the top rope looking for a Frankensteiner. That backfired as Cage hit him with a low blow and threw him through a table:
A replacement ref then comes to the ring, but only for a two-count. Cage then went at Patron with the chair. After landing some blows, El Patron hit a low blow that set up the armbar for the win:
Cage obviously had his head shaved after the match, but tried to attack Patron again after the fact. That worked out poorly as Alberto gave him a taste of his own medicine with a powerbomb:
Winner: El Patron Alberto
The Dream Match between Rey Mysterio Jr. and Myzteziz was up next, starting off with some crazy entrances:
After Rey got the upper-hand to start the match, Myzteziz became frustrated. On the outside he tried to put Mysterio through the announce table, but it didn’t break:
Rey recovered and got Myzteziz on the outside, able to go for a senton, get caught, but counter into a headscissors into the ring post:
Back in control, Rey tried to get Myzteziz back on the outside. He was caught again, this time getting suplexed through a table off of the apron:
Myzteziz then went to try and punish Mysterio, including a wicked powerbomb onto a turnbuckle:
However, Rey was able to recover again and hit a senton onto the outside:
The two traded pin attempts soon after that both received slow two-counts, including a nifty roll-up from Mysterio:
Myzteziz began dominating Rey after the pin attempts, getting in crazy offense:
And more offense:
And offense while Mysterio tried to even the score:
Mysterio tried to get going once again and hit a 6-1-9, but Myzteziz countered and hit one of his own:
Rey was only down for a two-count and soon hit a 6-1-9 of his own. That wasn’t enough, but locking in the La Mistica submission was enough for the victory:
Soon after, Pentagon Jr., Averno and Joe Lider attacked the two competitors from the main event, staple gun in hand. Mysterio and Myzteziz then teamed up to fight back:
This also featured a WWE-Sin-Cara-style botch from Myzteziz:
After escaping danger, Myzteziz went full heal, challenging Mysterio to a Mask vs. Mask Match and then ruthlessly beating Mysterio, first with a powerbomb through a table:
Then with a military press gutbuster:
Konnan came out to the ring before the stream cut out, but most likely to reveal himself as the heel motivator behind Myzteziz.
And that was the show. Feel free to leave your thoughts (or complaints about the stream) in the comments.
