UPDATE: The guy who knocked out Geno Smith was apparently just a massive ‘ball of muscle’, according to Jason La Canfora.

UPDATE 2: The Jets have already released Ikemefuna Enemkpali for breaking the jaw of the franchise quarterback.

UPDATE 3: Geno Smith’s jaw is broken in two different places, according to ESPN’s Adam Scehfter.

The New York Jets are a dumpster fire of an organization and we are constantly reminded of it on a daily basis. Everyone thought that Rex Ryan being let go as head coach would fix things but the Jets are worse off than they’ve ever been.

Case and point being Tuesday morning, when they lost the closest thing they have to a quarterback after he was sucker punched by his own teammate.

According to the New York Times, Geno Smith will miss 6-10 weeks after he broke his jaw in a fight with a teammate. The report states that he was sucker punched — which is a familiar feeling for Jets fans but something new for Geno Smith.

This is so atypically the Jets that it’s almost fitting that it happened. The guy who broke his jaw is a 24- year old outside linebacker from Louisiana Tech named Ikemefuna Enemkpali — who was promptly released after breaking the jaw of the franchise quarterback.

This is just such a Jets thing that it’s perfect. You can’t get any more dysfunctional than this and this couldn’t have happened to any other organization than the Jets. It seriously couldn’t have.
