Utah Jazz 2015-16 NBA Schedule
A look at the 2015-16 NBA Schedule for the Utah Jazz
The Utah Jazz ended the 2014-15 NBA season like they could be a force during their 2015-16 campaign. While they ultimately were back in the draft lottery and out of the NBA Playoffs, this young Jazz team proved to be a problem for opponents and got fans of the team and of the NBA in general excited about their prospects moving forward.
With their young core in-tact and not in any danger of being broken up, the Jazz were predictably quiet during free agency this offseason. Signing Joe Ingles, Raul Neto, and Tibor Pleiss is essentially the entirety of the Jazz’s work in free agency. While that may seem odd, the Jazz believe that they have something special to grow with and don’t particularly want to tinker too much. However, the addition of rookie Trey Lyles in the draft could be a sneaky good move for this team.
However, the young core for Utah suffered a major blow recently with the loss of second-year guard Dante Exum. While playing for his native Australia in an international friendly game, Exum came down awkwardly while driving into the lane and went down. A few days later the worst was confirmed as it was announced that Exum has a torn ACL and will miss the entirety of the 2015-16 NBA season.
Exum’s numbers as a rookie weren’t incredible, but he was a big part of their success because of his defensive abilities. The crux of Utah’s strong showing in the second part of last season was their suffocating defense. Exum’s length at the point was a big factor in that and something that Trey Burke cannot provide at the position.
That being said, the Jazz still have the talent in guys like Gordon Hayward, Derrick Favors and Rudy Gobert to be able to at least compete for a spot in the postseason. Here’s the 2015-16 schedule they’ll have to run through to make that happen:
