#Teens have always been an extremely powerful and influential group, but their power has grown in recent years with the rapid rise of social media. When #teens decide they like something, that thing gets very, very popular. Just this summer, for example, #teens on Vine have turned a goofy dance track called “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)” into a constant presence on the radio and worldwide phenomenon. #Teens in many ways drive the culture.

In fact, #teens are so powerful, that Fox hosts an award show every year called the Teen Choice Awards. From music, to movies, to sports, and many more categories, #teens pick the best of the best. Nothing is a more true test of popularity than this award show.

So who did the #teens pick as their favorite male athlete? Why none other than the Golden State Warriors’ Steph Curry. And why not? He won the MVP award and lead the Warriors to their first title in 40 years, and in the process became a cultural icon. With his fancy dribbling moves, outrageous three-pointers, and swagged-out celebrations, Curry was both one of the best players in the league, and one of the most engaging and entertaining. And there’s nothing #teens love more than that.

Congrats Steph, now you’ve truly made it.
