The Houston Astros recognized one of the greatest players in their history on Saturday night in Craig Biggio

Boy, what a time it is to be a member or fan of the Houston Astros. On Friday night, Mike Fiers tossed a no-hitter, and on Saturday, they got to see one of the best players in franchise history take his rightful place inside Minute Maid Park in Craig Biggio. As of now, Biggio’s No. 7 will never be worn by anyone on the Astros ever again.

Biggio was one of the best second baseman to ever play the game, and he was a staple for the Astros organization for 20 years before hanging it up in 2007. When his career was in the books, Biggio finished with a .281 batting average and compiled 3,060 hits with 1,175 RBI. There was not a more reliable hand in the game of baseball over that 20-year span than Biggio.

This is not the first time this year that he has been honored, however. Last month Biggio was one of the Baseball Hall of Fame inductees in Cooperstown, an honor that was more than deserved.

Congratulations are most certainly in order for Craig Biggio, one of the best to ever play the glorious game of baseball.
