With the quarterback position pretty crowded at the moment, are the Eagles looking to unload Matt Barkley?

The Philadelphia Eagles are taking on the Baltimore Ravens in NFL preseason action on Saturday, and while all eyes will be on the debut of projected starting quarterback Sam Bradford, there might be just a few more on Matt Barkley when he’s on the field. In particular, there might be some eyes of NFL teams that want his services.

It’s being reported that you can expect to see a lot more from Barkley this week when the Eagles take the field, because apparently, Chip Kelly and company are willing to shop him around.

Now as far as what the “right deal” would be, that’s not really known right now. But if Barkley can put out a good performance against the Ravens when he is on the field Saturday night, we’ll more than likely start to learn more about that.

Right now, Barkley does seem –and has seemed– like the odd man out of the bunch. You really shouldn’t expect Sam Bradford or Mark Sanchez to go anywhere, and of course, there’s that Tim Tebow guy. Chip Kelly had a plan for him when he was brought in in the first place, so unless he just becomes a major bust — he’s not going anywhere.

So when the Eagles take on the Ravens Saturday night, don’t be surprised to see Barkley get a little more work than he did last week so the Eagles can show him off to some potential suitors. If he can play anywhere near the way he did last week, then talks could be heating up soon.
