The Divas will be in the spotlight on RAW this week as there will be a Divas Beat the Clock Challenge

WWE Monday Night RAW from Brooklyn last week was a turning point in the Divas Revolution that’s been happening on the main roster. As the crowd turned on the six-Diva tag match last week, the Divas responded. However, it’s a sign that WWE needs to do something to actually push this revolution forward.

That seems like the plan at this point, at least that’s what the match card for the August 31 episode of RAW from Tampa, FL. Late on Saturday night, WWE announced that RAW will feature the first ever Divas Beat the Clock Challenge to determine the number one contender for Nikki Bella’s Divas Championship.

It won’t be every Diva on the roster trying to go after the number one contender spot. It’ll instead be the three members of Team PCB—Paige, Charlotte, and Becky Lynch—who will be a part of the challenge. While it’s unfortunate that Sasha Banks isn’t a part of it, that’s still two of the three new additions to the Divas division on the main roster.

Though we haven’t seen how this is going to play out on television on Monday night, this seems to be a step in the right direction in terms of progressing the Divas Revolution. Not only does this guarantee at least three Divas matches with three of the best in-ring wrestlers in the Divas division, but it also finally gets the Divas out of this quagmire of tag matches that they’ve been stuck in for over a month now.

Also worth noting on Monday night is who they put the members of Team PCB up against. As is always the case with a Beat the Clock Challenge in WWE, there is often at least somewhat of a perception that the opponent sof the participants in the challenge are being slotted into a jobber role. You have to wonder what Divas the company is willing to throw into that role as they try and push a division that doesn’t have a deep roster.

In the end, though, this is the type of thing WWE should be doing to ignite a Divas Revolution. It’s not enough to just have them on television more often if the matches don’t mean anything. The company has to build stories and put Divas in situations that they’ve never been in before and give them the chance to succeed as singles competitors as opposed to just a division of wrestlers getting a spotlight.
