Pitchers celebrate no-hitters in many different ways, but Jake Arrieta of the Chicago Cubs may have raised the bar.
You have to hand it to Joe Maddon. The man has a knack for great timing and it showed once again on Sunday night.
With the team set to embark upon one of Maddon’s patented themed road trips, the Chicago Cubs manager planned for the entire roster to board the team plane wearing pajama onesies. However, Maddon didn’t bank on right-hander Jake Arrieta throwing a no-hitter before hitting the road.
What followed was internet gold, as Arrieta greeted the media throng wearing an incredible mustache onesie that instantly won the internet.

I can’t tell if those are pockets or not, but it almost looks as if Arrieta’s outfit includes the bathroom flap on the backside, which just adds to the mystique of the outfit. It is certainly an instant winner among the best press conference garb ever worn in Major League Baseball history.
Not to be outdone, the rest of the Cubs team got down and into action with some other nifty outfits to help kick the road trip off. Yeah, it sucks to have to hit the road after playing a late game on Sunday night, but it certainly helps alleviate the stress when you’re celebrating a no-hitter at 39,000 feet and doing so in a one-piece pajama outfit dressed as a Ninja Turtle, Superman, or a Minion.

Yup, there were certainly some good times to be had last night for the Cubs.
