Philadelphia Eagles Head Coach Chip Kelly has announced who will be the starting QB for the team’s final preseason game.

Sam Bradford is set to be the Philadelphia Eagles’ starting QB going into the regular season. Former USC QB, Mark Sanchez, will be his backup at the position.

However, there was some uncertainty surrounded the team’s third string QB. Matt Barkley and Tim Tebow are battling for the spot and will continue to be heading into the final preseason game.

Well, according to 97.5 The Fanatic’s Eagles Beat Reporter, Tim McManus, Barkley is set to start that final preseason game against the New York Jets. How he performs will matter for that crucial last QB spot on the depth chart:

Barkley getting the first shot at performing may be a good sign for his future. He will get the first look against the Jets, who have a strong secondary but likely won’t be playing key players like Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie to avoid injury.

If Barkley can’t outperform Tebow in this game, it will be a large fall from grace for the former Trojan. Barkley was a star in college for USC and at one time was projected as a 1st round pick. However, his stock fell in the 2013 draft due to numerous questions about his playing ability. The Eagles would end up drafting him in the fourth round.

Then there’s Tebow. If he gets the job, it would be a big step in the right direction for him after leaving ESPN’s college football studio to attempt an NFL comeback.

Whatever the case may be, one of these former college stars may be without a job after the final preseason game.
