Defensive Player of the Year: Jalen Ramsey, DB, Florida State

When it comes to defensive backs in college football for the 2015 season, there might not be a better one not just in the ACC, but in the entire nation than Florida State’s Jalen Ramsey.

People oftentimes like to talk about a defensive player that just has a nose for the ball, and when you talk about that, Ramsey will immediately pop into your head. Time and time again last season, Ramsey was all over the field on the defensive side of the ball helping the Seminoles keep their regular season undefeated streak intact. Overall in 2014, Ramsey recorded 80 total tackles with two interceptions. Now, back to the whole “nose for the ball” part, 10 of those tackles were behind the line of scrimmage. Ramsey can hit you anywhere, anytime and from any angle.

With some losses on defense this season, Ramsey will be asked to step up to the plate even more. With this being the case, this upcoming season might be the best one that he’s had yet and will solidify him as a surefire first-round pick come next spring in the NFL draft.

When the 2015 ACC season is over, you probably won’t be able to find a better defensive player in the conference than Jalen Ramsey — and that might also include the entire country.
