Tom Brady’s suspension has been lifted. His draft stock never significantly dropped, but now he can be added to the must have list of players in the first round. Decision time has come. Who is the best quarterback in the league and who will make you a winner in your fantasy football league this year?
Tom Brady stands to make his presence know after all the negative allegations against him. Brady will have the desire to prove his doubters wrong in the hunt for another Super Bowl title. The New England defense took a couple hits (Vince Wilfork most notably), which means the Patriots must score more points this year. With a questionable running game at best, expect “Brady to Gronkowski” to be shouted every weekend.
The lifting of Brady’s suspension raises the stock of every wide receiver on the team. This also pushes Rob Gronkowski to a level higher than most WR2 choices. If the decision comes down to a second wide receiver like Golden Tate or Eddie Royal, take Gronkowski if he is still available.
The New England running game should still be avoided at almost all turns. If you some how found yourself in a league with 16 people (like I did), then it is worth considering, but only in that rare occasion.
There are still QBs that should be taken ahead of Brady, like Andrew Luck and Russell Wilson simply because of their abilities to score touchdowns themselves and not just pass the ball off. The choice truly comes down to Aaron Rodgers or Brady. Both teams are fighting injuries. Both teams are still capable of having 12+ win seasons. The decision should be based on the running game. A healthy Eddie Lacy means less passes for Rodgers, especially in third down and goal line situations. Brady may take more risks this year, but from what we have seen from him in the past he can make a lot of something out of nothing.
