The NBA has finally changed their stupid playoff seeding format to better reflect the talent in each conference as opposed to who wins what division.

For years, NBA fans have been clamoring for change when it comes to the playoff format and how the seedings are determined. Under the format used up through last year, the winners of the divisions in each conference were awarded the top seeds, while the rest of the field was filled in based on win-loss records.

That is all out the window now, and proper playoff anarchy is setting in.

Announced on Tuesday, much t the delight of fans everywhere, the NBA is changing up the playoff seeding format to solely award position in the postseason based on how a team finishes in the regular season. This means that a team can win their division and still get a seed outside of the Top-3.

This could end up leading to something even more exciting in the NBA — alignment. If winning your division has been rendered meaningless, then the need for divisions goes right out the window.

While not rumored at the moment, this could directly lead to the realignment of the NBA and move teams around to fit better from a geographical standpoint. Then again, the idea of realignment was to make the divisions better, and if this new playoff format renders divisions irrelevant, then realignment may become that as well.
