The New England Patriots are opening their title defense on Thursday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers, kicking off the 2015 National Football League regular season. New England has endured plenty of controversy throughout the offseason, dealing with the fallout of DeflateGate.

New England is a 7.5-point favorite to beat Pittsburgh, according to BOVADA. The Patriots have not faced the Steelers since 2013, when the two teams combined for over 1,000 total yards. Pittsburgh is going to be without three of their most important offensive pieces as well, including center Maurkice Pouncey, wide receiver Martavis Bryant and running back Le’Veon Bell.

Bryant and Bell are both suspended, while Pouncey injured his ankle and will miss at least the first eight games of the campaign. On the other sideline, the Patriots are also without center Bryan Stork, who is dealing with a concussion. Stork was placed on the Injured Reserve – Designated to Return list, putting him out for two months at the minimum. Wide receiver Brandon LaFell and running back LeGarrette Blount are also out, the former being on the Physically Unable to Perform list while Blount is suspended.
