Missouri Tigers  vs. Arkansas State Red Wolves

No. 21 Missouri will be facing off against the Arkansas State Red Wolves in Arkansas Saturday. The Red State Wolves will have their work cut out for them as they take on a Missouri squad that showed off a highly effective defense and a productive offense in their season opener against Southeast Missouri.

Though center Evan Boehm and running back Russell Hansbrough may miss the game with injuries, Missouri has enough talent to prevent Arkansas State from staging an upset. Still, a game without Hansbrough could leave Missouri somewhat vulnerable since their run game came to a screeching halt after the star running back left the game after his injury. Missouri had zero rushing yards in the second quarter without him.

Though Arkansas State was crushed by USC, they did manage to sack USC’s quarterback five times in the first half. A slew of penalties and turnovers killed momentum and made USC’s job even easier than it should have been. Meanwhile, Arkansas State is enjoying head-coach continuity for the first time since 2011, the year that marked the start of the One and Done era, when the team endured three seasons with three different coaches. Former University of North Carolina offensive coordinator Blake Anderson has returned to coach Arkansas State for a second season. Over the long haul, this should work to the advantage of Arkansas State, though the team still faces an uphill battle against Missouri on Saturday.
