Fantasy football waiver wire: Week 2 Pickups top 10 to target
Kansas City Chiefs D/ST (20.2%)
If you’re looking to stream a fantasy defense for week 2, the best option is a team on a short week as they prepare to host Peyton Manning. Normally, Peyton and the Broncos would be a matchup to avoid, but the Broncos struggled big-time in week 1 making the Kansas City Chiefs defense a great option to pick up for week 2.
The Broncos failed to score an offensive touchdown in week 1 while Manning threw for just 175 yards and no touchdowns. The Denver offensive line allowed Manning to be sacked four times and his one interception was returned to the house by Jimmy Smith early in the third quarter. While the Broncos have been largely dismissive of the performance since it was only week 1, it’s a big ask to expect an almost-4o year old quarterback with limited feeling in his fingers to turn around the entire offense in just three days for Thursday Night Football.
The Chiefs will also have home field on their side as they host the Broncos in what is sure to be a raucous Arrowhead Stadium. The Kansas City defense is a formidable one whenever they play at home, but with a short week and a struggling offense coming into town I expect them to turn in one of the best performances of the week. In week 1, the KC defense allowed some late points in a game that was already decided against the Texans, but they were able to force two turnovers and sack Houston’s quarterback five times. I expect another big game from Derrick Johnson, Allen Bailey, Justin Houston, and the entire Chiefs defense making them the pickup of the week if you can get them as your streaming D.
