Steve Johnson-WR-San Diego Chargers (29.2%)

I really like Steve Johnson a lot as a sleeper this season, and he has been a recurring character in many of my preseason posts.  He came through on Sunday in the Chargers win against Detroit, but the Chargers hopefully won’t have to go quite so pass-heavy if they’re not down early as they were to the Lions.

Philip Rivers threw 42 passes in week one, and 17 went to top wide receiver Keenan Allen.  Aside from Allen, though, Johnson had the most catches and yards on the team catching six passes for 82 yards and a touchdown.  He’s still the third WR for the Chargers, but he’s involved enough in the offense to definitely be fantasy relevant.

For the next three weeks, Antonio Gates will be suspended leaving more room over the middle for Johnson. In week 2, San Diego heads to Cincinnati in what should be a good game, and Johnson is again worth a look as a WR3 or flex play especially in PPR leagues.
