Similar to their ACC Atlantic Division rival Clemson, the Florida State Seminoles face a difficult challenge in Week 3. In a rare Friday night contest, the Noles must make the long trek to Chestnut Hill, Mass. to battle it out with a hot Boston College squad.

Last season, Boston College nearly upset Florida State in Tallahassee, but fell 20-17 as 17-point underdogs. That was a very different group of Eagles, however, as head coach Steve Addazio was forced to replace seven starters on offense and five on defense following the season. So far, so good, though BC hasn’t been tested yet. The Eagles defeated a pair of FCS opponents – Maine and Howard – by a combined score of 100-3.

Florida State is also 2-0, having beaten Texas State 59-16 and USF 34-14. Though the scores have been lopsided, there are still concerns through the first two weeks of the season. Quarterback Everett Golson’s numbers look good on paper (33-for-51 passing, 465 yards, 5 TDs, 0 INT), but he’s appeared uncomfortable at times. FSU struggled early last week before running back Dalvin Cook took over. Cook is off to a monster start (422 rushing yards, 8.6 yards per carry, 5 TDs), but FSU has yet to face a defense as physical as BC’s. The Eagles have allowed a total of 102 yards through two games.

Addazio is a good coach, and has proven it by leading Boston College to surprising winning records in each of his first two seasons on campus. Though he’s yet to beat the Seminoles as a head coach, his teams have always played Florida State tough and the methodical run-heavy offense the Eagles employ is tailor-made to keep the game close until the fourth quarter. Because of the Friday night kickoff and Florida State’s vulnerability, BC might be able to steal a win.
